Core Materials Used in Bearing Production
#1 Chrome Steel (GCr15 / 52100)
This is the most widely used material for general-purpose roller and ball bearings. It offers excellent hardness, wear resistance, and fatigue strength.
#2 Stainless Steel (440C / 304 / 316)
Used in food-grade, marine, and corrosion-sensitive environments. Provides moderate hardness with superior corrosion resistance.
#3 Ceramic (Silicon Nitride, ZrO₂)
Ideal for high-speed, low-friction, or magnetic-sensitive applications. Ceramic bearings are lightweight and offer high thermal resistance.
#4 Plastic & Composite Polymers
Used in low-load, lightweight, or chemically aggressive environments. Suitable for compact or special-purpose bearing systems.
#5 Brass / Polymer Cages
Cages may be made from brass, PA66, PEEK, or other engineering plastics based on speed, temperature, and lubricant compatibility.
